Having graduated with an LLM International Law and International Relations, Boqian tells us about what she enjoyed most about her course, her plans for the future and achieving the highest grade on her programme.
Why did I choose law at the University of Bristol?
When searching for an ideal programme, I noticed that the LLM International Law and International Relations at the University of Bristol highly fit my undergraduate major (Politics and International Relations). The programme’s integration of legal studies with international relations allowed for a comprehensive understanding of global issues, which aligned perfectly with my passion for both fields.
The best bits from my programme
The LLM course provided me with academic knowledge, legal analysis skills and professional connections such as lecturers, guest speakers, and peers from around the world.
I particularly appreciated the diverse range of modules available, which allowed me to explore various aspects of international law and political science.
For instance, I took the unit named ‘International Corporate Finance’, which provides a systematic introduction to the laws related to financing and offers the opportunity for in-depth study. Furthermore, the supportive faculty members were always willing to provide guidance, enhancing my academic journey significantly.
My future plans and working in China
The University of Bristol is widely respected, which will provide me with a significant edge in the competitive legal market.
I plan to work in China and am particularly interested in practicing in areas such as international trade, arbitration, and dispute resolution, where I can utilise my knowledge of cross-border legal frameworks.
My goal is to be a lawyer engaging in international commercial issues, working for a law firm or a legal specialist for a transnational enterprise.
On achieving the highest grade on the LLM International Law and International Relations
Receiving the prize for my postgraduate degree is a profound privilege. This achievement reflects not only my hard work but also the support from my professors, mentors, parents and peers.
Studying law has been a transformative journey for me.
This award further motivates me to use my skills to contribute positively to the legal landscape and uphold the principles of fairness and equality. Thank you once again for this remarkable recognition. It truly encourages me to aim higher.
